Save our Skatepark and Other Outdoor Facilities

Help Bring the Fun Back to Outdoor Activities

 

Outdoor activities are vital to the well being of our youth. The skate park, although flawed in many ways, provided an outlet for children to hone their skills, interact with their peers and enjoy the outdoors.

 

When our skate park was dismantled abruptly in the Spring of 2010, hundreds of people came together to petition the act. To date, there hasn't been much more than talk about the issue. The time is now to stop "talking" and do something.

 

The goal of this initiative is to raise the funding necessary to build an entirely new skate park facility somewhere in North Smithfield. Our organization will help raise the necessary funds, but we need a group of concerned citizens to lead the brigade.

 

We need a funding needs analysis, proposed site locations, feasibility and specific details including insurance requirements , etc. to be ironed out before any funding can be allocated towards the skate park in particular.

 

Should the group of citizens working on this project determine that there is no feasible location, then any funds raised would be earmarked for another outdoor facility/renovation project.
